Energy Minister A.K. Sharma has emphasized that consumer satisfaction will remain the government’s top priority and directed officials to ensure accountability at every level of implementation.

The smart meter initiative was originally designed to improve transparency, reduce billing errors, and curb electricity theft through real-time monitoring of consumption. It is also aligned with broader national energy efficiency goals.
